Hair Salon Marketing Case Study
How local SEO, Google Business Profile optimization, PPC, and paid social helped New Westminster’s top-rated hair salon move from page 2 of Google Maps into the top 3 — and turn local visibility into a steady flow of bookings.

A Top-Rated Local Salon That Google Couldn’t Seem to Find
Charm and Champagne Beauty Studio is the kind of business every agency wants to work with — genuinely exceptional. They’ve been awarded Best Hair Salon in New Westminster, BC by Quality Business Awards for five consecutive years (2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026), with an overall quality rating exceeding 95%.
The quality was there. The reviews were there. The problem was visibility.
When potential clients searched for a hair salon in New Westminster, Charm and Champagne was buried on page 2 of Google Maps — invisible to everyone except people already searching for them by name. Organic traffic was low, Google Business Profile engagement was soft, and despite being the top-rated studio in the city, a huge chunk of local demand was going to less-awarded competitors who simply showed up first.
Buried in Google Maps
Despite being the top-rated salon in New Westminster, the studio was stuck on page 2 of the Map Pack — where almost no new client ever looks.
Weak Organic Visibility
Searches for everyday hair services and specialty treatments in New West weren’t surfacing their site, so the salon was invisible outside of direct brand searches.
Low Profile Engagement
Calls and website clicks from the Google Business Profile were far below what a 5-time award-winning salon should be generating.
Expensive, Unmeasured Paid Ads
Paid advertising was running without proper call tracking or funnel structure — so it was impossible to tell which ads actually drove bookings, or what a real client was costing.
What We Set Out to Achieve
Dominate the Local Map Pack
Move from page 2 of Google Maps into the top 3 results for the hair and beauty searches that actually drive new client bookings.
Grow Organic Traffic
Build a sustainable organic channel that feeds qualified local searchers to the website every single month, not just when paid ads are running.
More Bookings, Lower CAC
Turn paid spend into measurable bookings — and drive client acquisition costs down to a level the salon can profitably scale.
Local SEO First, Then Paid — Stacked to Reinforce Each Other
Local SEO & Site Architecture
We rebuilt the site’s structure around the way people actually search for hair and beauty services in New Westminster — clear service pages, strong on-page signals, and local landing pages that reinforced the salon’s location and authority.
Google Business Profile Optimization
We overhauled the Google Business Profile: categories, services, photos, posts, Q&A, and review strategy. Every signal that Google uses to rank the Map Pack was tightened up to match the salon’s real-world reputation.
Paid Search with Call Tracking
We ran PPC campaigns focused on high-intent local searches — with full call tracking, so every ad dollar could be traced to either a booked call or a form submission. That let us cut what wasn’t working and double down on what was.
Paid Social for Niche Services
On top of local search, we ran paid social campaigns targeting specific service categories — filling appointment slots in niche specialties that pure search advertising couldn’t efficiently reach.
From Page 2 of Google Maps to New Westminster’s Top-Ranked Salon Online
By stacking local SEO, a fully optimized Google Business Profile, tracked PPC, and targeted paid social, Charm and Champagne turned a strong offline reputation into the dominant online presence in its local market.
